BIRTH DATE: February 14th, 1960

APPEARANCE
(P/B = Ed Speeler) Gilderoy has wonderfully soft and bouncy hair. He takes special interest in his appearances, and makes sure that his skin is always smooth and his hair is always alive with personality. His eyes, which he refers to as "forget-me-not" blue, appear spunky and happy. When not in normal Hogwarts student robes, he dresses rather flashy and ornate.

HISTORY
Gilderoy Lockhart was born to Reginald and Aubrianna Lockhart in 1960. Both parents were from pureblooded families, and held mostly blood-supremacist ideals. His father works with the Ministry, and his mother led the housewife life.

When young Gilderoy was 5, his mother passed away. His father, wth his successful career and good looks, quickly found another wife just 2 short years later. Reginald often took very long business trips with varying associates, so Gilderoy was raised primarily by his step-mother. He was an only child, and Gwen, his step-mother, had always wanted a little girl. As much as Gwen pleaded with Reginald, he refused to allow her another child; this was due to the fact that "children take time and money" and that "one is enough".

All of Gwen's femininity seemed to have rubbed off on Gilderoy. Gwen taught him everything from personal hygeine to how to get the softest, most luxurious hair. She was cunning as well, deceitfully smooth at social events and seemed to always get her way. Gilderoy looked up to his step-mother in awe at how perfect she was, how flawless her words came and how lovely her appearances were kept.

Some of Gilderoy's hobbies included reading wizard magazines and books from famous wizards and witches. The real life heroes of these books had accomplished so much. They also had gotten fame and glory and wealth from it. Gilderoy would often romp around with his family's house elf pretending to "slay the magic beast" with his toy wand and then accepting awards and signing autographs. His step-mother encouraged him completely, laughing along with her little star.

At age 10, he got his letter to Hogwarts, and his father even went to see him off. His step mother, a rather clingy mother-figure, doted endlessly on her handsome little Gilderoy as he boarded the train. At Hogwarts, Gilderoy didn't know which House to expect. Ravenclaw didn't seem to fit him, and Merlin forbid he be placed shamefully in Gryffindor; he knew his father would disown him if Hufflepuff were called out. No, he knew that from his birth he was Slytherin. And that is where he was sorted.

His first couple of years in Slytherin was definitely an adjustment. Although he inherited the vanity and self-motivation from his father and step-mother, his habits were a bit different from other boys his age. Even at age 11, Gilderoy took extra care in brushing his teeth and using special bathing products to enhance his features. He scoffed when the other Slytherin boys would munch on sweets before bed without brushing.

His summers were spent at home, but Gilderoy truly adored attending Hogwarts. It wasn't until his fourth year that he turned his attention toward girls. There was a particular Ravenclaw girl that had caught his eye during a Potions class. Her gorgeous raven black hair and flawless skin kept Gilderoy daydreaming constantly during class. He tried one time to impress her, but it ended up driving the girl away. Gilderoy stopped her after class to attempt small talk, but resulted in his own raving about his good marks and good looks.

This event, suprisingly, did not teach Gilderoy that being self-centered and prideful was a negative way to get the girls. Each year, he flirted tirelessly with girls, in every year. And each year, he seemed to get rejected. Once or twice, he was surprised to be asked about advice on hair and skin-care tips. It seemed many girls consider him as more of a friend than a possible consort.

He was at a loss on how to achieve a girlfriend, so he wrote home to his step-mother for advice. She told him that "her son could get any girl he wanted", feeding his ego. In his sixth year, he managed to get a date out of a Slytherin girl in fifth year. The romance lasted a couple weeks, until the girl decided that Gilderoy was too focused on himself.

Gilderoy claims high success in DADA, and absolutely loves the idea of being the strongest and most powerful wizard of his generation. He knows deep down that his skills don't rival certain others in his year, but that won't keep Gilderoy from lying about his actual abilities. For him, it's what the people think that's important, not the truth.

Now, in his Seventh year, Gilderoy cannot wait to graduate and move on in his life. His dreams of future stardom seem so close.

PERSONALITY
Gilderoy. What can we say about the lovely and talented Gilderoy Lockhart? He is an ambitious and flambuoyant individual. Most are suprised that such an over-the-top, flirtatious, smiley guy like this would have been put in Slytherin House; but Gilderoy has learned from his father a certain selfishness that drives him to succeed at any cost. He isn't the bravest of wizards, and will often try to talk his way out of trouble. He is skilled in the art of talking. And talking, and talking...

Gilderoy was never shy. He stands up for himself and considers what he does and what he believes to be the right way. He absolutely hates to be dirty; he enjoys supporting Quidditch, but would never consider flying around on a broom for hours, sweating and getting hit by bludgers.

He loves the company of girls, but often takes flirtation too far, upsetting his potential dates. Truth be told, he's just as fine being single and doting on himself as he is with a girlfriend (who he expects ALSO to dote on him). With the Slytherin guy group, he often takes the funny, cute guy route, instead of being the bossy leader. He figures as long as he doesn't subject himself to being "beneath" anyone, his words will be listened to and he'll gain respect.

Gilderoy, from his early years of reading about the heroes of his time, has developed a sort of hero-complex. It's interesting, because he hasn't really done anything heroic. In his mind, however, he believes that he can handle any situation, and doesn't need to actually prove himself.

RP SAMPLE (Third person)
Evening had come and thus the nighttime routine for Gilderoy Lockhart began. He had already showered, using his special soap, meant to enhance the body's natural glow. He walked back to the dormotories, and began applying his body lotion, which included a refreshing fruit scent. His teeth were then scrubbed with special tooth whitening toothpaste, and floss finished the job. He then applied an avacado face mask and some hair cream and sat down on his bed. He received a couple of strange looks, but the others, they just didn't understand. Beauty takes effort, he remembered his step-mother saying to him before bed.
